Our Missionur Mission

… is to improve the health and well-being of the people of Chautauqua County and the surrounding area with compassion, dedication, a commitment to quality, while maintaining economic viability and a vision for the 21st Century.

Our Historyur History

WCA first began its mission as a one room hospital for the sick and injured and a boarding house for young working women in 1885 - Major expansion of the medical and surgical areas took place from the 1950s to the 1970s. In the mid-1980s, WCA purchased the assets of the former Jamestown General Hospital. Today, WCA is a non-profit, regional medical center for acute care as well as tertiary levels of care such as cancer treatment, dialysis, trauma surgery, behavioral health and advanced diagnostic and rehabilitative services. WCA Healthcare System includes seven locations, more than twelve hundred employees, one hundred ten physicians, and over one hundred services and programs.

WCA serves a population of more than 160,000 people of western New York and northwestern Pennsylvania. The system offers an extensive range of inpatient and outpatient acute care and rehabilitation services, as well as numerous wellness programs, health related classes and support groups.

Summary of Servicesummary of Services

WCA is fully accredited by The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and the NYS Department of Health. Ultrasound and Mammography are both certified through the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. WCA is a member of Voluntary Hospitals of America (VHA).
